Amazon
Hardly an obscure site but one I use fairly regularly.
Never had a single problem. With the success of the new internet mail
order economy I wonder why the government are making such a mess of
Royal Mail. Like British Rail it's expensive but it works and it's
essentially a public service. Privatisation always leads to higher
prices and worse service.

Sheehans Musical Instruments A
bit pricey perhaps but they sell the strings I like, Newtone
Masterclass and Martin Silk and Steel, and they ordered a spare part
for me which was nice. They're also very quick on the delivery and some
items arrive the next day.

Waterstone's
I've started to worry so much about the
state of the British economy that I've started to support more British
businesses. I decided to make a few book purchases on the Waterstone's
site and wasn't disappointed. Comparable pricing and quick service.

Neal's Yard Remedies
I only made a couple of
purchases on the Neal's Yard website but it was painless and the items
arrived promptly and in good order. |

Ebay
I've used this site a lot now,
both to buy and sell and had mostly positive experiences. I got caught
out once but I had a suspicion that the offer was a little too good to
be true and half expected it not to arrive. It still might have got
lost in the post and the seller provided an address so...who knows.
Otherwise brilliant.. |

Sainsbury's
A major supermarket whose delivery service I've used on a number of
occasions. There's occasional lateness, the odd missing item or
sad-looking loose vegtable but nothing to be too concerned about. I've
used the 'Taste the Difference' logo because it's a bit more colourful
and also because the multi-seeded loaf is the best bread I've ever
tasted. |

Tesco
In the interests of fairness I'll give Tesco a mention too. Their
delivery services suffer from the same occasional hitches as
Sainsbury's but their delivery charges are a little cheaper. They will
also generally be able to get a delivery to you the day after your
order which Sainsbury's is unable to do. Forcing you to log in to look
at their stock is very annoying though. |

Getty Images This
is a stock photo website where photographers offer their images for
sale to whoever wants to they buy them, be they newspapers, magazines
or even members of the public. Select a photo you like and ask if they
can do you print. If they can it will cost you between fifteen
and thirty pounds depending on size. I bought these: 1 2 3 |

Axes'r'us
This is a truly horribly designed website, one of the worst I've
seen, but they do have a selection of useful bits of pieces for
guitarists and amateur luthiers. Electronic spare parts, body's and
necks, all at reasonable prices with good delivery rates and a decent
service. I bought a really nice mahogony body from here when I was
rebuilding my strat. |

Brookes
I bought some Caterpillar socks from this site because I thought they
might be a bit more robust than the average. Actually they weren't,
although they looked quite nice. In the end I bought some army socks
from a surplus shop. Delivery was prompt but the packaging was a bit
frayed, perhaps the mail, perhaps not. |
